The session starts with the State of the State Address on January 9th at 12:00 pm. Think of it as the Superbowl for government officials – a major event in the world of politics! GAC Conference Speaker Exciting news for the Governmental Affairs Conference attendees in Washington, D.C., as Theresa May, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2016-2019), will be our special guest speaker! We eagerly anticipate her insights on the convergence of politics, business, and technology, drawing from her extensive experience. Legislative Updates Before the Senate left for the holiday break, Tanya Otsuka was confirmed to join the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board, filling Rodney Hood's expired term. Appointed by President Joe Biden, Otsuka brings over a decade of expertise in financial regulation. The Senate reconvenes today for a pro forma session while the House will be back on the 9th. Welcome to America’s Credit Unions America’s Credit Unions officially launches this week! The merger of CUNA and NAFCU aims to strengthen the credit union industry's presence nationally as a united force for our credit unions. The organization plans to be fully operational by 2025, ensuring continuous service and responsiveness during the transition year of 2024.
