DakCU Offices Closed July 4th
DakCU offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th in observation of Independence Day, an important federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The day marks the historical event when the United States of America declared its independence from the rule of Great Britain. The declaration was adopted on July 4, 1776, and therefore, the holiday is commonly referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth. Please have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

Capital Credit Union Promotes Ternes
Tom Ternes was recently promoted to Bismarck-Mandan market president at Capital Credit Union’s Main Office. In this role, he will lead Capital Credit Union’s Bismarck area business lenders, with a focus on growing the credit union’s business services. Ternes graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2008 with bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and mathematics. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mary in 2012. In addition, Tom graduated from the North Dakota Bankers Association's Dakota School of Banking in 2016. He joined Capital Credit Union in March 2022 as a business services vice president. Tom and his wife, Chelsea, live in Bismarck with their three children.
 
Railway CU Seeking VP of Asset Protection run thru June 29
Railway Credit Union (RCU) is seeking a Vice President of Asset Protection to take over for a retiring long-term team member. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with members to build collection solutions to both assist the members and help RCU avoid credit losses. RCU was recently recognized as one of the top 50 Credit Unions to work at in the nation! WyHy FCU Seeking Controller
WyHy FCU is a Wyoming credit union with approximately $360 million in assets. With branches in Cheyenne, Casper, Rock Springs, Lyman and Green River, WY, their footprint spans the entire state of Wyoming. WyHy is currently looking for the perfect individual to fill this newly created position and oversee the Accounting Department, as well as manage and support outsourced partners. Compensation DOE and includes a generous benefits package. Discovery2023 Virtual Conference
TruStage business resources (formerly CUNA Mutual Group) will be holding Discovery2023 – an annual complimentary virtual conference – on Thursday, August 10, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (CT) with sessions running throughout the day, concluding at 4:00 p.m. (CT). This year’s event will offer energizing virtual sessions inspiring credit union leaders to embrace change within their credit union’s strategic planning and confront uncertainty with confidence. Thought leaders from in and outside the industry will show us credit union best practices and how to lean into the core strengths of the credit union digital ecosystem, while also exploring what’s on the horizon. If you missed the virtual learning session with CUCollaborate to discuss Field of Membership conversion and expansion issues, a recorded version is available upon request to Amy Kleinschmit. CUCollaborate consultants explored the processes involved in converting from a state charter credit union to a federally chartered credit union and options for FCU expansion opportunities including special rules for low income designated credit unions
 
Credit Unions United Operation Thank You
The Credit Unions United Chapter is once again holding “Operation Thank You” to support veterans that live in poverty, unable to afford day-to-day needs. Participating credit unions can establish Donation Stations in their lobbies from June 15th – July 15th. Items needed include shampoo, deodorant, persona hygiene/feminine hygiene, dental care, etc. Please contact Sandi Widdell, Branch Manager, North Star CCU, with any questions.
 
SalesCU Training
Due to popular demand, additional workshop dates have been added for SalesCU workshops. SalesCU training offers practical and proven sales techniques and strategies that actually work in a credit union setting to bring affordable and convenient sales training to our Dakota credit unions. If you want to develop employees who know how to sell in a way that adds value to the member, and sales leaders who are empowered to drive results through developmental coaching and meaningful accountability, we have a solution for you! Sessions run the following dates: August 29-31; September 12-14; October 3-5; and October 31-November 2. Leveraging the Cooperative Advantage
The Center for Cooperatives and the ND Council for Cooperatives is hosting CO-OPERATE 2023 in Jamestown August 9-10. Celebrate, collaborate and expand the impact of co-ops by re-energizing the value proposition of the cooperative business model. This meeting will bring co-op directors, employees and members together for two days of resource sharing, networking and learning. Hear from speakers on a variety of topics, including innovations in cooperatives, workforce challenges, evolving member expectations and the value of the cooperative business model. Leadership Development – Work at Your Own Pace
Our iLead@11 DakCU Emerging Leader Program is designed specifically for emerging leaders in the credit union industry, based on the popular Leadership@11 program designed by Eleven Performance Group. It is an ongoing program that allows participants to start whenever they want and determine their own pace. Scholarships are available through Dakota Credit Union Foundation by completing the application form found here.
