Capital CU Announces Scholarships

Ten students are receiving financial assistance for their further education through this credit union’s Howard J Snortland Scholarship fund. ​
BISMARCK, ND – Capital Credit Union has announced the ten recipients of its $1,500 Howard J. Snortland Scholarships. The scholarship fund is named in honor of Howard J. Snortland and his 60 years of volunteer service to Capital Credit Union. Snortland was instrumental in helping the credit union grow from its humble roots to the thriving financial cooperative it is today. Since the scholarship was established in 1996, Capital Credit Union has awarded $170,500 to 166 students.
 
Congratulations to this year’s recipients:
 
  • Avery Brousseau, Avery is from Bismarck and is currently a senior at Legacy High School. She plans to attend the University of Montana to pursue a degree in wildlife biology. 
  • Noelle DeRosier, Noelle is from Mandan and is currently a senior at Mandan High School. She plans to attend the University of North Dakota to pursue a degree in accounting. 
  • Susanna Francetich, Susanna is from Bismarck and is currently a senior at Century High School. She plans to attend Bismarck State College to pursue a degree in forensic science. 
  • Monica Gardner, Monica is from Mandan and is currently a senior at Saint Mary’s Central High School. She plans to attend Bismarck State College to pursue a degree as a paramedic technician. 
  • Ty Hughes, Ty is from Minot and is currently a senior at Des Lacs High School. He plans to attend Minot State University to pursue a degree in business. 
  • Ethan Maier, Ethan is from New Salem and is currently a senior at New Salem-Almont High School. He plans to attend Bismarck State College to pursue a degree in exercise science / pre-chiropractic. 
  • Kaden Overson, Kaden is from Bismarck and is currently a senior at Bismarck High School. He plans to attend the University of Mary to pursue a degree in civil engineering. 
  • Kelbi Pritchett, Kelbi is from Mandan and is currently a senior at Mandan High School. She plans to attend North Dakota State University to pursue a degree in political science and early law. 
  • Landon Regstad, Landon is from Bismarck and is currently a senior at Saint Mary’s Central High School. He plans to attend North Dakota State University to pursue a degree in architecture. 
  • Harper Skaare, Harper is from Dickinson and is currently a senior at Trinity High School. She plans to attend the University of Mary to pursue a degree in nursing.
 
Capital Credit Union, originally chartered in ND in 1936, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by each of its more than 30,000 members and overseen by a member-elected board of directors. They offer personal and business financial solutions including auto, home equity and mortgage loans, checking and savings accounts, business loans and more to individuals and businesses located within a 75-mile radius of Bismarck, Hazen or Fargo, or a 50-mile radius of Beulah or New Salem.
