Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) invite credit unions from all around the Dakotas to join credit union leaders from around the country at our industry’s largest gathering of the year! The CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) will be held in Washington, D.C. February 26 – March 2, 2023, attracting more than 5,000 credit union leaders to our nation’s capital to rally around a united cause!
 
At the heart of CUNA GAC are “Hike the Hill” visits, organized by DakCU. Conference attendees travel to Capitol Hill to advocate for the needs of their members to change the credit union regulatory environment for the better. In addition to focused advocacy efforts, CUNA GAC offers keynote speakers and breakout sessions from renowned speakers, the largest exhibit hall of any event in financial services, and a wide range of networking opportunities. If you are a serious credit union professional, you do not want to miss this event.
 
WELCOME TO OUR “ONE-STOP” GAC SHOP!
To assist you, DakCU has prepared a “one stop” GAC shop on our website, which you can find here. This convenience allows you to register for the conference, make your hotel reservations, and even apply for a scholarship for financial assistance! 
 
ROGER HEACOCK SCHOLARSHIP
 This DakCU scholarship was created to honor Roger Heacock’s servant leadership and longtime commitment to credit union advocacy and grassroots engagement by providing financial assistance to credit union professionals who are members of DakCU and wish to attend the GAC or the DakCU Legislative/Regulatory Hike the Hill. Assistance is based on the number of qualified applicants and funds available; the amount awarded may reach, but not exceed, the cost of attending the conference. CRASHER OPPORTUNITIES
If you are selected to be a GAC Crasher and your credit union is a DakCU member, you will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the association to help defray the cost of attending! Crashers also receive FREE conference registration compliments of CUNA. This is an amazing opportunity for young professionals age 35 and under who are developing a career in the industry.  Details are available here – be sure to meet the December 2 deadline.  
 
ACCOMODATIONS FOR DAKCU MEMBERS
Courtyard by Marriott is conveniently located near the Convention Center and rooms are available for our Dakota GAC attendees.  The standard room rate is $315 for single or double occupancy. Be sure to reserve your room when you register; just look for the “ACCOMODATIONS” link, and use the password provided on our “One-Stop GAC shop.”  Be sure to pay attention to detailed instructions and cancellation policies.  All housing must be entered into the system by Friday, January 13, 2023.  If you have any questions about reservations, contact Paige Langhoff 701.250.3924.
