Greetings, Last week, I had the opportunity to attend America’s Credit Unions’ National Credit Union Roundtable meetings. This is an annual spring event where top industry credit union leaders are invited to discuss and dissect our movement’s biggest opportunities and challenges. I had the privilege to tag along with Steve Schmitz from First Community Credit Union and Jerry Schmidt from Black Hills Federal Credit Union. Even though we jammed a lot of dialogue into to a short time frame, each session provided not only an opportunity for America’s Credit Unions to share updates, but for industry leaders to network and share on how we can best serve members and our communities. Having meaningful discussions with credit union CEOs and other industry leaders about the current operating environment is the objective of this National Roundtable. More importantly, we take a deep dive into how we can lead during uncertain times and prepare our credit unions for meaningful growth and relevance. Topics covered last week included:
Let’s connect at the Summit! You still have time to register for our 2024 Annual Meeting. This Friday, May 3, is the final day to register for Summit. Our team has put together a truly exceptional conference this year with some exciting changes, such as a pre-conference session for small credit unions and training sessions specifically for volunteer board members. We are also looking forward to the annual golf outing, the exceptional keynote speakers, the awards banquet, and so much more. As always, you will leave feeling inspired, energized, and excited about the credit union movement! Please note the room block we had set aside at Grand Falls Casino & Resort is completely full; however, we encourage you to get on the waiting list there by calling 712-777-7777. We also recommend making backup reservations at our overflow hotel, GLO Best Western Dawley Farms in Sioux Falls. Call 605-275-4000 and ask for the Dakota Credit Union block. If you have any questions about hotel arrangements, please contact Paige Langhoff, DakCU’s office coordinator. ND CMN Micropreemie project moving forward! Last year we decided to GO BIG and BOLD by committing to support our local Children’s Mircale Network Hospitals. I am very excited to share that North Dakota credit unions have made just over $407,000 in pledges for the CU4Kids Micropreemie Care Unit campaign benefiting the Sanford Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Fargo. We are very close to reaching our goal of $500,000! If your credit union would like to join the growing list of pledges, be sure to contact Shawn Brummer as soon as possible. As a reminder, you can choose when to start fulfilling your pledge and how long you need to fulfill it. We are planning a big announcement at Summit and will be acknowledging all contributing credit unions at that time. I am happy to share that 17 credit unions have already committed support! Families experiencing the emotional and financial hardship of a premature birth will receive hope and healing close to home, thanks to supporters like you!
