​Don’t panic – but Christmas and the New Year are just over six weeks away!  Holiday Raffle is upon us; and be sure to get your applications in for the Roger Heacock GAC Scholarships!

I hope everyone is having a great week. Take a quick glance at your calendar, because Christmas and the end of the year are just over six weeks away!  It is not my intent to induce any panic attacks, but I do want to make sure you are not missing out on any upcoming deadlines on the advocacy front!  As holiday season begins to ramp up and you consider your vacation and travel plans, it can be easy for things to fall through the cracks.  Here are a few things to keep on your radar.

Holiday Raffle and Drawing
Our CUPAC/CULAC Holiday Raffle kicked off on November 1st for all Dakotas credit unions with an updated signed permission agreement.  The raffle runs through December 1st, with our prize drawing taking place on December 15th.  We will be drawing 16 winners and giving away a total of $5,000, including a $1,000 cash grand prize.  Raffle winners will be posted in The Memo and on the DakCU website following the drawing.

Roger Heacock GAC-HTH Scholarship Application Due
If you are planning to attend the 2022 CUNA Government Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington DC this upcoming February, I encourage you to consider applying for the Roger Heacock GAC-HTH Scholarship.  This DakCU scholarship was created to honor Roger Heacock’s servant leadership and longtime commitment to credit union advocacy and grassroots engagement by providing financial assistance to credit union professionals who are members of DakCU and wish to attend the CUNA GAC or the DakCU Legislative/Regulatory Hike the Hill (HTH).  Assistance varies each year and is based on the number of qualified applicants and funds available.  ​Scholarship monies allocated to applicants may reach, but not exceed, the cost of attending the conference or event.  ​Deadline to apply is December 1, 2021.

Calling All Crashers!
Once again, Filene and The Cooperative Trust are hoping to get 50 “Crashers” – one from each state – to attend and “Crash” the CUNA GAC in Washington, DC.  Crashers receive free conference registration.  Travel, lodging, and food costs are the responsibility of the Crasher and their credit union.  DakCU is offering a $1,000 scholarship for each of our Dakota Crashers!  Additionally, Crashers may also apply to receive a Roger Heacock GAC-HTH Scholarship detailed above.  However, the first step is getting selected.  If you are building a career in the industry, we strongly encourage you to apply for this opportunity. All the details are available here.  Deadline to apply is December 3, 2021.
