As the only financial trade association that represents all credit unions in the Dakotas, the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) has one primary objective: We are here to help our members succeed. We do that by providing 360-degree advocacy leadership, protecting Dakota credit unions from harmful legislative and regulatory threats.
We are now seeking a Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs for each state, North and South Dakota, to represent our member credit unions in matters involving state and federal governments, with an overall objective to maintain a positive regulatory environment in which our credit unions can flourish. These positions act as chief lobbyists and liaisons to state policy making authorities and coordinate grassroots efforts to convey credit union concerns to policy makers. They will provide weekly legislative updates to membership via association DakCU communications, collateral materials and networks, and provide legislative activity updates to the Government Affairs Committees. In addition, the Directors will actively seek to engage members and elected officials in grassroots advocacy by overseeing and facilitating raising funds through our political action committees, CUPAC (state Political Action Committee) and CULAC (federal Legislative Action Council) in coordination with a board of trustees. The preferred candidates will have five or more years of related experience, a bachelor’s degree or experience in a related field, and an awareness of the state and national financial service environment, as well as extensive knowledge of credit union philosophy and business practices.
