Are You Ready to Act?

5/7/2024

Picture
It looks like the Credit Card Competition Act is being pushed as an amendment to the FAA Reauthorization Act. Urge Congress not to pass this detrimental legislation!
Last week, our advocacy team discovered that Senator Durbin and Senator Marshall are pushing to include the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) as an amendment to the FAA Reauthorization Act. Jeff Olson was in Washington, D.C. actively discussing this matter with the Senate offices from both North and South Dakota, where he engaged in constructive talks aimed at addressing our concerns. Additionally, John Alexander and I have been maintaining close communication with the Senate teams from the Dakotas to stay informed of any legislative movements regarding the CCCA. This is not the first time Senator Durbin and Senator Marshall have tried to push an amendment that is completely unrelated to legislation that is required to be passed, nor will it be the last.

We encourage everyone to voice their concerns to elected officials about the CCCA. You can easily send a message to our national delegation in Washington, D.C., using our Grassroots Messaging Platform. Our advocacy team has prepared key points for your messages, and we recommend personalizing these with your own stories to make a stronger impact. It's vital that our senators and representatives understand the negative effects of the CCCA on our financial institutions. There is power in standing together to protect the interests of credit unions and our members in North and South Dakota!

Get Registered for the Silent Auction!
Our Annual Summit is just a week away! We're excited to invite you to the Stack the PAC recognition and fundraising event, taking place Tuesday evening at Grand Falls Casino. All 2023 CUPAC/CULAC donors will enjoy complimentary entry. If you didn't get a chance to donate last year, you can still participate by registering at the door for $24. Join us for an evening of celebration and support for our advocacy efforts!

Speaking of fun, let’s talk about this year’s silent auction! As a reminder, you do not have to be present at the Summit to take part in all the fun and, of course, bidding. You can easily participate from the comfort of your desk (or couch) by registering online in advance. Text DakCU to 56651 to get signed up or register online at https://dakcu.cbo.io.

Registering for the silent auction is easy! Checkout this video on how to register in advance for this year’s silent auction below. It truly takes 60 seconds or less! (Enjoy the music but please note, we do not own the rights.)
