Fargo VA has kicked off their fundraising for the new CU4Kids Micropreemie Care Unit at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Jana Thune, CEO of the credit union, was one of the credit union professionals that joined the hospital tour last May, when their executive team made an initial presentation for the partnership proposal. Once presented to their board, the credit union did not hesitate to make a pledge. Fargo VA has traditionally done a fundraiser on CU4Kids Miracle Jeans Day; however, this year, there was no specific date set for that particular event. So, the credit union decided to designate Monday, September 11, 2023, for their project. The staff opted to sell Sandy’s Donuts, a local favorite, asking for a minimum donation of $2.00 per donut. Pre-orders were taken, and 12 dozen were sold before the event. On the day of the sale, they sold out in the morning with more than 24 dozen treats being picked up by credit union members and others in the Veterans Administration Hospital where the credit union is located. At the end of the day, the credit union raised $1,585.00 which is the first installment of their $5,000 pledge. The credit union plans to do a fundraiser each year and is confident they will meet their goal within the next three years.

All North Dakota credit unions are invited to participate as we aim for a dedicated mircropreemie care unit to be named in honor of contributing credit unions. Comments are closed.
