Each year at the Dakota Credit Union Association’s Annual Summit, we organize a “Give Back” project to benefit an organization within the community where our event is being held. For this year’s Summit “Give Back project,” we decided to try something a little different! Instead of asking you to bring food, or pet supplies, or clothing for a donation, we asked you to bring gift cards in $25 increments that we could present to the local CMN Hospital, Monument Health, so they could distribute to families being treated there, whenever they sensed a need. We really didn’t know what to expect for a response – but we were hopeful that it would be well received by you, our attendees. Let’s just say – you FAR EXCEEDED our greatest expectations. By Wednesday evening, we had collected 145 gift cards – with a total cash value of $3,625! Then, in an incredible act of generosity, Black Hills FCU (Rapid City) stepped up and matched the donations! Therefore, Monument Health will be receiving a total of $7,250 from our event! This is an AMAZING show of charitable good will by our members, and also many of our vendors and business partners, and WE THANK YOU! Your generosity will go a long way in supporting families experiencing a medical hardship. Shawn Powers, CMN Program Manager for Monument Health Foundation, and their new Foundation Director, Hans Nelson, appeared at the DakCU awards banquet to accept the donation. Credit unions are the 5th largest corporate sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and our Dakota credit unions continue to show their great support! Each gift card was delivered enclosed with this message: Comments are closed.
