State-Level Dora Maxwell Awards

​These first-place winners now advance to national judging at the Credit Union National Association along with credit unions from around the country. 

Bismarck, ND – Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) is pleased to announce the 2023 winners of the state-level Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Awards. These prestigious awards recognize credit unions that have excelled in community relations and are committed to ongoing charitable programs within their communities.
 
The entries from the Dakotas were judged by an awards committee made up of eight judges from the Minnesota Credit Union Network. Each credit union will be recognized with a commemorative plaque during the 2024 Annual Summit awards banquet.
 
Congratulations to these first-place winners who now advance for national judging at the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) along with credit unions from around the country in their same asset category.
 

• Less than $50M in assets: East River FCU (Madison, SD)
• $50M to $250M in assets: Railway CU (Mandan, ND)
• $250M to $1B in assets: North Star Community CU (Maddock, ND)
• More than $1B in assets: First Community CU (Jamestown, ND)

• Less than $50M in assets: Postal Family FCU (Fargo, ND)
• $50M to $250M in assets: United Savings CU (Fargo, ND)
• $250M to $1B in assets: Town & Country CU (Minot, ND)

 
The Dora Maxwell Award is named for the credit union pioneer who worked to improve the living standards of the underserved. She held numerous volunteer positions at the local and national level in addition to organizing hundreds of credit unions and worked with many organizations on behalf of the poor. Credit unions can receive the award for involvement in almost any kind of activity that helps other people or strengthens the structure of a community. This may include raising funds for charity, educational activities, or community involvement projects.
