by Jay Kruse, Chief Advocacy Officer Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) is excited to announce registration is now open for our 2021 Hike the Hill meetings! Normally held in conjunction with the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), we typically wrap up our trip to Washington, DC by meeting with our Dakota congressional delegation to discuss issues impacting Dakotas credit unions.
Like many things over the past few months, scheduling time for virtual meetings with our elected officials has proven to be a difficult task. Our delegation had limited availability this week due to a jam-packed schedule in both the House and Senate. However, we have scheduled meetings with Senators Thune and Rounds in South Dakota and Congressman Armstrong in North Dakota to take place over the next weeks and continue to work with the other offices to get additional meetings scheduled. Previously, these congressional meetings were only available to those attending the GAC in Washington; however, since we're all virtual, so are our meetings. This means all DakCU member employees and volunteers can participate this year – even if you are not registered to attend the GAC! This is an excellent opportunity to experience credit union advocacy firsthand. Here is our current schedule: North Dakota March 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. CST – Virtual Meeting with Congressman Armstrong South Dakota March 17, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. CST – Virtual Meeting with Senator John Thune March 19, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. CST – Conference Call with Senator Mike Rounds You can register for these meetings and any additional meetings that may be scheduled throughout the spring by visiting our events page or by clicking this link. We will distribute instructions to attend to those who have registered once we get closer to the meeting dates. We are still hopeful to get virtual meetings scheduled with our entire congressional delegation; however, if we continue to have conflicts scheduling virtual meetings, in-district meetings later this spring may turn out to be our best option. We hope you will consider joining us to make our credit union voice heard! If you have any questions please reach out to Jeff Olson, Kayla Pulvermacher, or me, Jay Kruse. Comments are closed.
