These are very exciting times for Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union (SFFCU), but particularly in the continued growth of their asset size and membership. These increases allow SFFCU to better realize their vision, mission, and values of helping people live better and providing outstanding and meaningful experiences through excellent service and value-added products. Tens of thousands of members are experiencing the quality difference that SFFCU is making in their daily lives.
This growth and forward momentum required an increase in responsibility, demand of skill and additional development opportunities for the credit union’s teams and leadership. It also involves purposeful strategy in organizational structure to best serve their members. In line with growth and strategy and to help lead the future of the credit union, some organizational changes to duties and titles for several employees are being made. These individual’s hard work and dedication to the organization and their members have earned them recognition to receive advancements in their careers. Sioux Falls FCU is pleased to announce these individuals and their advancements. BJ Wylie as VP Branch Services. BJ has helped coach and lead branch teams as the Branch Services Manager over the last 5 years and has more than 34 years with the credit union. Throughout her career, BJ has demonstrated a learning attitude and put forth the needed effort to master each of the roles she has filled, including earning several certifications as well as the distinguished CCUE (Certified Credit Union Executive) title. Her effort has contributed significant efficiencies and effectiveness in both production and procedure. Joey Rotert as VP Marketing & Business Development. Joey has led the marketing, PR and Business Development efforts for the last 8 years as the Marketing & Business Development Manager. His leadership has significantly contributed to building brand, expanding community presence and winning key relationships for the credit union. Joey is in his final year of SFFCU’s Leadership Development program. Teresa Jorgensen as AVP Mortgage Services. Teresa is in her 11th year leading the SFFCU mortgage team. Her contribution to both member experience and business efficiency is exemplary in the industry. Teresa has a commitment to excellence that has empowered her team to close approximately 8,000 mortgages under her leadership. This has all been made possible because of her leadership to improve procedure and practice in her department. Kari Wanke as AVP Accounting & Payments. Kari has been the Accounting Manager since 2009. Over the last 18 plus years, she has continuously looked for ways to better serve the staff that are serving the members. This continuous improvement mindset has led her to receive her AAP (Accredited Automated Clearing House Professional) certificate to become the inhouse ACH expert and her CCUIP (Certified Credit Union Investments Professional) certification to leverage financial options as a credit union. Kari is also in her final year of SFFCU’s Leadership Development program. Randy VanDeVendel as AVP Systems and Data Administration. Randy has led the Operations team nearly 12 years. His efforts have expanded both system function and use of data to improve the credit union’s ability to serve their membership. His 21 years with the credit union have given him the depth needed to see what others cannot in designing solutions and looking for needed data solutions. Bernie Tegethoff as AVP IT. Bernie has been leading the I.T. department since 2004. Bernie embraces the new challenges that have come with the credit union’s growth. He keeps the systems running keeping security at the forefront. He recently achieved a CB Ethical Hacker Certification allowing him to master the concepts and technologies used by today’s hackers to better defend the Credit Union. Travis Christoffer as AVP Business Services. Over the last 8 years Travis has been the Business Services Manager. Travis brought many years of experience to the role and has been instrumental in the department’s progress to provide outstanding member service while improving procedure, policy and practice. His expertise is second to none and in his time at SFFCU the portfolio under his management has doubled. Mickey Koepp as AVP Recovery Services. Mickey has helped thousands of members through very difficult times in their lives over her 31 years at SFFCU. Mickey’s leadership as the Collections Manager has helped the credit union maintain low delinquency and charge off ratios by building trusted relationships with members and staff. Mickey has a talent to be real but understanding with members so that they want to make their payments. Her efforts have recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars for the credit union. Tim Umfleet as AVP Audit and Compliance. Tim joined SFFCU last June as the Risk Manager and brings 10 years of risk management leadership to our organization. He quickly went to work introducing ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) strategies to improve the credit union’s protections and processes. Tim is well trained with a JD and LLM (Master of Laws) as well as a CFIRS (Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist) title. Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1934 and currently serves anyone who lives or works in Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner counties of South Dakota.
