Recently, the Dakota Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors approved a generous grant in the amount of $2,000 for Junior Achievement of South Dakota. The grant is being used to purchase materials and digital resources directly used by the students at schools engaged in financial literacy. Junior Achievement SD provides financial education to elementary, middle school, and high school students in 42 communities in the state, reaching nearly 55,000 students in 194 schools annually. Credit union volunteers regularly visit classrooms all across the state to help educate young students about financial literacy. In fact, credit unions in South Dakota have been strong supporters of the Junior Achievement program for many years. During the 2022-2023 school year alone, 41 employees from credit unions served as JA classroom volunteers! This school year, nearly 40 credit union employees have already committed as volunteers. DakCU and our Foundation would like to honor those many volunteers and their credit unions who selflessly give time and valuable resources to support financial well-being for these young consumers, the next generation of credit union members!
