The North Dakota Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) is excited to announce that Steve Davis, Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending, First Community Credit Union, has been elected the new ND GAC Chair. Tyler Neether, VP of Business Lending, Town & Country Credit Union, will continue to serve as Vice Chair. The committee thanks Jon Griffin, CEO Capital Credit Union, for his dedicated leadership over the past year.
As Chair of the ND GAC, Steve Davis has issued a call for applicants to fill several vacancies on the committee that have been left from a recent retirement and resignation. To that end, he extends an invitation to North Dakota credit union professionals with an interest in legislative affairs and advocacy to apply for one of the open seats on the ND GAC. To be eligible for one of the three-year terms, the individual must be an employee, volunteer, or ND resident member of a DakCU affiliated credit union in good standing, with a signed CUPAC/CULAC Permission Agreement. The individual must also financially support the purpose and mission of the committee by contributing to CUPAC/CULAC each calendar year. The committee generally meets virtually, but may meet periodically in person such as at the DakCU annual meeting. To highlight a few of the responsibilities of the ND GAC, the ND GAC sets DakCU’s political fundraising goals and works with DakCU staff to achieve these goals. The ND GAC also has a role in setting North Dakota state legislative and rule change priorities and works with DakCU staff in advancing those priorities. Recommendations are made on policy positions or actions to the DakCU board on federal legislative and regulatory issues if the ND GAC determines such a recommendation(s) is appropriate. The committee makes decisions on how to distribute North Dakota Credit Union Political Action Committee (ND CUPAC) funds to political campaigns or to political candidates or to use the funds for other political related purposes as permitted by law. Parties interested in serving on the committee must apply and have a sponsoring credit union along with the recommendation of that credit union’s CEO. Please submit your completed application to Amy Kleinschmit or contact her with any questions. Fillable PDF Application available here. Comments are closed.
