Mindee Kohlman Announces Retirement

For the past 40 years, Mindee Kohlman has been an active and influential member of the credit union movement in the Dakotas. She has been highly respected by her peers throughout her 40 years in the industry, of which 35 years has been with Aspire.

Last Friday, Jason Rohrer, President of Aspire’s Board of Directors announced Kohlman’s intent to retire in 2023, saying, “Mindee will be difficult to replace. She retains a wealth of knowledge from her years of service, and we could not be more grateful for her leadership and dedication to this institution during that time. The Board of Directors is committed to finding the right candidate to fill Mindee’s shoes; she has been a tremendous asset.”

The goal is to have someone hired before Kohlman retires to provide an opportunity for training time with Kohlman serving as a resource as the new CEO gets settled.

ASPIRE CREDIT UNION SEEKING CEO
Due to an upcoming retirement, Aspire Credit Union in Minot, ND is looking for an energetic and experienced CEO to oversee all aspects of the $165MM credit union. The CEO leads Aspire staff through strategic planning with the vision, mission, and values at the forefront to serve the credit union members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage overall operations, resources, and organizational structure.
  • Plan, recommend and implement programs and policies.
  • Maintain continuing appraisal of the general economic environment, anticipate changes in the economy as they may affect money management.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of all credit union financial, statistical, and accounting records.
  • Establish controls to ensure books of account, records and member accounts are maintained in accordance with credit union policy and procedures.
  • Plan, organize and staff the credit union to accomplish the objectives of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain proper internal environment to ensure maximum efficiency in implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for effective member relations.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?
  • Providing friendly, courteous, customer service with a positive attitude.
  • Process transactions accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ask questions and employ listening and communication skills effectively to uncover member needs and make referrals to appropriate contacts.
  • Adhering to all operational, security, risk, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating Aspire CU service standards of accuracy, responsiveness, courtesy, partnership, and responsibility.
  • Maintaining helpful and courteous interactions with others and open communication.
  • Actively support the culture and mission of Aspire.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Financial/Lending knowledge required with strong understanding of diverse business functions and performance management.
  • Proven experience as CEO or other managerial position with organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Must be able to obtain an NMLS number.
  • Must be bondable.
