Good morning! September is here and fall is just around the corner with kids back in school and football back on the TV this week! However, NFL football isn’t the only thing that officially kicks off this week. Jeff also officially kicked off our first Pints & Politics chapter meeting last night for the Credit Unions United Chapter in Minot, ND, and tomorrow he will be presenting at the Fluffy Fields Vineyard and Winery in Dickinson, ND for the Dickinson Area Chapter. For those of you that may be unaware, “Pints & Politics” is our state-wide credit union legislative awareness program for credit union leaders, volunteer board members, and employees to help build relationships with our elected officials and get to know the candidates on a more personal level. As of today, the November general election is just two months away! And, while you might not be seeing campaign yard signs sprinkled across the countryside quite yet, campaign season is in full swing with candidates looking to convince constituents why they deserve their vote. This is exactly why we created our credit union Pints & Politics events. These events are credit union and state specific – designed and presented by the Dakota Credit Union Association’s Governmental affairs teams, bringing our advocacy and grassroots efforts directly to the chapter level. The program brings credit union professionals, state, and federal lawmakers, and general election candidates together for an informal evening of credit union education and advocacy awareness. When is your local chapter’s Pints & Politics Event? North Dakota September 8, 2022: Dickinson Area Chapter - Fluffy Fields Vineyard and Winery, Dickinson September 15, 2022: Missouri River Chapter – Artic Room inside Lucky's Bar, Bismarck September 22, 2022: North Central Chapter – VFW Club, Devils Lake September 27, 2022: Maurie C. Byrne Chapter – The Spud Jr.: Prohibition Room, East Grand Forks, MN September 29, 2022: Williston area – Dickinson, Williston October 11, 2022: James Valley Chapter – Jamestown, Edgeley, LaMoure, Lisbon, Kulm October 13, 2022: Red River Chapter – Fargo area South Dakota September 20, 2022: Central Chapter – Top Floor, Huron October 13, 2022: Golden Pheasant – Aberdeen area (Venue Scheduling Conflict – New Date TBD) October 20, 2022: SE 605 Chapter – Sioux Falls/Brookings area October 27, 2022: Old West Chapter – West of Missouri River/Rapid City area The success of these legislative events is very dependent on our credit unions professionals’ attendance and participation. Candidates want to talk to you. So, be sure to mark your calendars and keep an eye out for your opportunity to RSVP and attend your local Pints & Politics event to support the credit union movement, while also getting to know the candidates that you will be asked to consider on your election ballot in November. Legislative representation is critical to the continued survival of the credit union movement, and chapters are very much an integral part of that political involvement process. Chapters have always been, and will continue to be, the backbone of the credit union movement, fulfilling a dual role as credit union educator and a grassroots legislative link! We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming Pints & Politics events this fall, and as always, don’t hesitate to contact me with any advocacy questions or concerns. Comments are closed.
