by Jay Kruse, Chief Advocacy Officer Happy Thanksgiving! Get out your pants with the elastic waist, ‘cuz tomorrow is turkey day! Be sure to have a second piece of pie, you deserve it! It’s time to take a deep breath and step back from our busy schedules to reflect on the many things we have to be thankful for. I am most thankful this year for my amazing wife and our pack of crazy pups. They are the best! I am also extremely thankful to be part of such a great team here at DakCU. I truly appreciate all the support that I receive from our awesome staff here at the association, knowing that the success of our advocacy efforts relies heavily on their expertise and support as well as the continued support of our amazing credit union members like you. Just 7 Days Remain – Last Chance to Show your Support! Thank you if you have already made a contribution to our Sweepstakes! If you haven’t, time is running out on your opportunity to win some cash while supporting our Dakota advocacy efforts. We have been promoting our annual CUPAC/CULAC Holiday Sweepstakes Fundraiser for roughly three weeks, and we still need your help to reach our goal! This is the first year taking the fundraiser fully online. Unfortunately, this year, support of CUPAC/CULAC Holiday Sweepstakes has taken a bit of an unexpected hit. We knew taking the fundraiser completely online could introduce some new hiccups, however we are still roughly $10,000 short of our annual goal this year, and only 7 days remain! While the process is new to many, we believe that it is a safer, more streamlined process for everyone involved. The ticket winners are still drawn randomly; however, we don’t have to physically handle each individual entry – and neither do our credit unions, not to mention the fuss of mailing paperwork back and forth! As you know, this Sweepstakes benefits CUPAC/CULAC – our state and federal political action committees. The funds raised are distributed to pro-credit union candidates in their bids for office. Simply put, these funds ensure credit unions are involved in the political process giving us a voice and a seat at the table. As an advocacy first organization, this is one of the fundamental reasons we exist. I do understand and empathize that funds are tight for everyone this year heading into the holiday season. We are experiencing record high inflation, and the price of Thanksgiving is up 20 percent over last year. So, we truly appreciate everyone’s consideration and support – whether you purchase 1 or 10 tickets – every bit helps! Get your tickets here! Sweepstakes highlights Cash prize drawings from a total of $5,000!
