Don’t forget, October is National Co-op Month – an annual opportunity to raise awareness of a trusted and proven way to do business and build inclusive communities. Plus, with less than one month until International Credit Union Day (ICU Day), CUNA is preparing to celebrate with this year’s theme: “Empower Your Financial Future with a Credit Union™.”
ICU Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the tremendous work that credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged. Festivities often include community fundraisers, contests, and picnics. October is also Cybersecurity Awareness Month and a great time to help individuals protect themselves online as threats to technology and confidential data become more commonplace. In addition, Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) is hoping to deepen awareness and help grow credit unions worldwide by launching the “Empower” campaign on October 1st. They are asking credit unions to participate by sharing their member empowerment stories here: https://doglobalgood.org/empower. You can also sign up to attend a free webinar to celebrate ICU Day Empowerment stories on October 20.
