by George McDonald, Chief Officer of Strategic Services If you haven’t looked at the iLead@11 DakCU Emerging Leaders program by now, you should. Why? Well, we all know how important leadership is to any organization – whether it be your local school board, your favorite sports team, developing a new product or service, and of course at our member credit unions. Strong leaders help keep us focused on the right path for our operations, can provide energy and enthusiasm for others to follow, and a calming influence when things get rough. At your Dakota Credit Union Association, we are continually looking for new ways to add value to your credit union and help you succeed. You told us that a large part of your organizations’ strategic planning and future success was based on the need for a “strong bench,” and developing the next generation of leaders for your team. That is why we have partnered with Jim Kasch of Canidae Consulting and Tonya Voltolina of Eleven Performance Group to offer the iLead@11 DakCU Emerging Leader Program. These two well-respected and thoroughly vetted organizations have more than 20 years of combined experience in financial services, including organizational improvement and leadership development. The iLead@11 DakCU Emerging Leaders Program is a leadership development program designed specifically for emerging leaders in the credit union industry and focuses on three pillars of study: Leading Yourself – One can’t lead others without first deeply understanding oneself. Leading Others – Poor leadership can cost a company more than $125,000 through lost productivity, staff dissension and turnover. Leading the Organization – Under proper leadership, the cooperative business model allows credit unions to capitalize on favorable consumer sentiment and opens tremendous growth possibilities. If you are a key strategic person focusing on the future of your organization, you owe it to yourself and your credit union to help develop emerging leaders and build that solid bench strength, competency, and sharpened team dynamics that will continue the legacy of superior customer service to your members. Or, if you are interested in becoming a more effective leader, you owe it to yourself to check out this program. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 701-250-3942 with any questions.
