Highmark FCU announces New Staff & Leadership Promotions Highmark FCU (Rapid City, SD) is pleased to announce the following new staff and leadership promotions. Mindy Howard, President-elect, Rapid City, SD – Mindy was born and raised in Rapid City. She loves traveling with her family and exploring new activities with them, such as bouldering and ballroom dancing. She has worked at Highmark in several different roles ranging from teller to operations, since first hired in 1997. She has been blessed to grow with Highmark for over 25 years. She is very excited to see what her time and experience will allow her to do as a leader with the credit union as they move into the future. Dan Johnson, Chief Experience Officer, Gillette, WY – A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Dan has been working in the banking industry in Gillette for over 30 years. His expertise lies in collections, consumer lending, consulting and in right-sizing financial institutions to set them up for success. He is a graduate of the Gillette Area Leadership Institute and is an active member and former president of the Gillette Energizers. Dan has a passion for his local community, and he’s also a proud new grandpa! Heather Snyder, Market Manager, Spearfish, SD – With over 6 years of credit union experience, Heather is thrilled to join Highmark Credit Union. Her expertise spans BSA compliance, marketing, member services, and management support. She has a strong dedication to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Being a part of the Spearfish community is exciting for her especially because as a climber and hiker, she shares its love of the outdoors. She looks forward to contributing to the success of Highmark, the Spearfish community, and building meaningful relationships with Highmark members. Kelly Milliken, Branch Manager, Belle Fourche, SD – Kelly joins Highmark with a wealth of member/customer service experience, having worked more than 19 years in the banking industry. She was born and raised in Wyoming but has called South Dakota her home for the last 24 years. She has been married to her husband, Jamie, for 6 years and has 2 grown children, Connor 22, and Chloe 18. She and Jamie enjoy golfing, traveling, camping, and supporting the Belle Fourche community through various boards they serve on. She is excited to be part of the Highmark team. Kelsey Opitz, Market Manager, Rapid City & Custer, SD – A graduate of Stevens High School in Rapid City, Kelsey was raised in the great Black Hills and started her financial career as a teller. She has been working in the credit union industry for almost twelve years. Kelsey adds, “It’s been a passion of mine to contribute to the community and financial health for all. You can find me hiking and paddle boarding during the wonderful summer nights” Aaron Prochazka, Chief Administrative Officer – After receiving his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Aaron held accounting jobs in many different industries including hospitality, healthcare, and commercial farming. With more than 12 years of accounting experience across multiple industries, he says he has “truly found my passion with the credit union industry, which I have been a part of for 8 years.” Aaron is most excited about the “people helping people” aspect of the credit union movement. From a young age he has always enjoyed saving money, and teaching others how to be financially responsible. Aaron has been involved with United Way Day of Caring, Rapid City Young Professionals group, and has taught Junior Achievement for the last two years. In this role, you will work to increase and maintain the credit union’s asset quality by developing new and existing business relationships. You're a trusted voice for our members and will identify and align new and existing loan members with additional products and services. After one year, you'll know you are successful if: You developed and maintained credible relationships with members; you have been instrumental in developing quality loans for the commercial portfolio and supporting business development efforts; you can provide feedback on approving or denying loans and demonstrate the ability to explore options for members when loans are denied; and you perform work responsibilities consistent with the Business Loan Policy, Lending Procedures, and compliance requirements of the credit union.
