The Dakota Credit Union Foundation welcomed their newest board member, Holly Steier, on Thursday, January 19th during the first virtual meeting of the year. Holly is a Marketing Representative at Western Cooperative Credit Union in their Dickinson, North Dakota Branch, where she has been a staff member for 16 years. She started as a member service representative, and has also worked as a loan clerk, personal financial representative, and now marketing. Her extensive volunteer experience includes serving as a board member for the Dickinson Soccer Club, committee work for the Bismarck Cancer Center, the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce Promotions Committee; the United Way Fundraising Committee, and the WCCU Social Committee. She has lived in Dickinson for most of her life, and has been married to her husband, Bob, for 22 years. She has two children and enjoys spending free time with her family at the lake, traveling, watching soccer, and cheering for her favorite football team, the Denver Broncos! We would also like to announce our 2023 Foundation Board and officers: Keith Mantz, Chair, Capital CU; April Tompkins, Vice Chair, Explorers FCU; Jim Schaefbauer, Secretary/Treasurer, United Savings CU; Jeff Olson, DakCU, Abby Murano, Dakotaland FCU, Dorothy Voorhees, Sentinel FCU; Darla Schafer, Flasher Community CU; and Jane Duerre, Norstar FCU. In other Foundation business, two $2,000 scholarships were approved, one for North Dakota and one for South Dakota, to attend the National Credit Union Foundation’s Development Education (DE) program. The first step is to apply for a Foundation Scholarship here using the fillable PDF application. Choose “Scholarship” and specify DE program under “Additional Info.” Those who complete the program receive the highly coveted CUDE designation. The in-person week-long DE program is delivered in Madison, WI. Space is limited and classes fill quickly. Registration is open for all 2023 sessions: June 12-16; September 25-29; and October 23-27. Cost to attend is $3,699 which includes lodging and most meals; travel expenses are not included. The Foundation scholarship will cover approximately 50 percent of the cost to attend. Also – get ready for our biggest and best fundraiser ever! This year at the DakCU Summit, we will announce the winner of a vacation package worth $5,000!
