Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) is pleased to announce the 2022 winners of the state-level Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Awards. These prestigious awards honor credit unions for their practical application of the “People Helping People” philosophy that is the hallmark of the credit union movement.
The entries from the Dakotas were judged by an awards committee made up of eight judges from the Minnesota Credit Union Network. Each credit union will be recognized with an engraved award plaque during the 2023 Annual Summit in Fargo, ND. Congratulations to these first-place winners who will now advance for national judging at the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) along with credit unions from around the country in their same asset category. Less than $50M in assets: Postal Family FCU (Fargo, ND) $50M to $250M in assets: Railway CU (Mandan, ND) $250M to $1B in assets: Town & Country CU (Minot, ND) Congratulations are also extended to Capital CU (Bismarck, ND) for their second place showing in the $250M to $1B asset category. The Louise Herring Award is named after a credit union pioneer who believed that the operational application of credit union philosophy helped better people’s lives. Louise believed that credit unions should work in a practical manner and she saw the credit union as more than just a financial institution. In her own words, “the purpose of the credit union is to reform the financial system, so that everyone can have their place in the sun.” Credit unions receive this award for internal programs and services that greatly benefit membership.
