Dakota Credit Union Foundation Moving Forward in 2022

​Find out what has been accomplished so far this year – and what is on the horizon after the February board meeting. 

The Dakota Credit Union Foundation Board met on Tuesday, February 15 with Board Chair Darla Schafer leading the Zoom virtual meeting. DakCU members may be excited to hear that our foundation is exploring several options in regard to financial education apps and platforms. Details will be provided once decisions and agreements are made, but these resources should prove to be a valuable asset for DakCU members in the near future!

In other business:

• To date, the foundation has received $16,500 in financial contributions submitted via dues from 19 credit unions.
• One grant application was received from North Dakota’s Marketplace For Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides a program to encourage youth to explore entrepreneurship and self-employment through the recognition and development of inventive, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. The foundation voted to award a $1,000 grant to support these educational programs.
• Scholarships were awarded to two Dakota credit union professionals in the amount of $1,200 each to attend DakCU’s iLead@11 leadership development program. Recipients were Colin Duffy, Ft. Randall FCU (Wagner, SD) and Laura Hausmann, United Savings CU (Fargo, ND).
• The board had authorized a $2,000 pledge to Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo during the “border battle” with Montana’s Credit Unions; that check was issued in January.
• Finally, mark your calendars for the Foundation’s annual Golf Scramble which has been set for Wednesday, August 17th at the Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo. Details to follow!
