In accordance with Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) bylaws, the Board of Directors may fill a vacant seat through an appointment; the designated appointee is then required to run at the next election cycle, which will occur during the 2024 Annual Meeting. Therefore, the board has appointed Veronica Holweger, CEO of Med Park CU (Grand Forks, ND), to fill the unexpired North Dakota Division C board seat that became vacant after Darla Schafer resigned on Monday. Holweger previously served on the board as director for ND Division C, when she was CEO of Riverfork FCU (Grand Forks, ND). However, a change in that credit union’s assets placed the credit union in a different division and she was required to forfeit her seat before completing her last term. Her new position at Med Park once again qualifies her for a board seat, and her vast experience serving on the DakCU Board will allow her to step back into that role seamlessly during this transition. DakCU Board Chair Jarrod Reisner said, “We want to thank Darla Schafer for her many years of dedicated volunteer service on multiple boards and committees. For nearly two decades, she has been an important voice on the GAC Committee, in addition to her work on the Association Board, the Foundation Board, the Missouri Valley Chapter Board, and other committees, too many to mention. Her work was, and is, greatly appreciated, and we wish her well as she has made the difficult decision to step back from some of her many commitments.” DakCU President/CEO Jeff Olson added, “Darla has been a true credit union champion here in the Dakotas, always willing to be engaged and offering her leadership whenever and wherever she could help, and we appreciate her many contributions. We also welcome Veronica Holweger back to the DakCU Board of Directors, and are looking forward to her leadership in guiding the Association.” Comments are closed.
