The South Dakota Central Chapter of Credit Unions recently held a fundraiser to benefit the Heartland United Way's Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides healthy weekend snack and food options for almost 600 students at nine local schools each week. The funds helped purchase food items such as granola bars, fruit, macaroni & cheese, popcorn, fruit snacks, ramen noodles, etc. The chapter also donated goods to the Salvation Army Food Pantry, which included non-perishable food items, in addition to personal hygiene items like soap, deodorant, body wash, and more. More than 325 items were collected to help stock their shelves! The Central Chapter is proud to provide support for these community organizations. Credit unions contributing to the donation collections were: Huron Area Education Federal Credit Union; Dakota Rail Line FCU; M-O Federal CU, Dakotaland FCU; and Oahe FCU.
