Capital Credit Union Board of Directors recently announced Jon Griffin, chief lending officer, has been selected to serve as Capital Credit Union’s chief executive officer, effective May 17. Internal and external candidates were identified and interviewed by a board-formed Candidate Selection Committee, which was assisted by executive position recruiting service Shanley Search Partners, LLC of Spring, TX. Griffin joined Capital Credit Union in 2011 as director of risk management and was promoted to vice president of risk management in 2014. In 2019, Griffin was promoted to chief operations and risk officer and in 2021, he was named the credit union’s chief lending officer. “Jon has been a member of the credit union’s Senior Leadership Team, working closely with outgoing CEO Vance Reinbold, for many years,” says Board Chairman Faye Miller. “His dedication to our mission to be the trusted financial resource that puts members first and commitment to the long-term success of our credit union makes him the ideal choice.” Griffin succeeds CEO Vance Reinbold, who has led the credit union since 2018. Under his leadership, the credit union grew to more than 31,000 members with more than $700 million in assets. “We are truly grateful for Vance’s dedication to Capital Credit Union,” said Miller. “We wish him a very happy retirement and look forward to seeing Jon’s success in this role.” Griffin graduated from the University of North Dakota in 2005 with bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mary in 2015. He and his wife, Kelly, live in Bismarck with their three children. Capital Credit Union, originally chartered in ND in 1936, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by each of its more than 30,000 members and overseen by a member-elected board of directors. They offer personal and business financial solutions including auto, home equity and mortgage loans, checking and savings accounts, business loans and more to individuals and businesses located within a 75-mile radius of Bismarck, Hazen or Fargo, or a 50-mile radius of Beulah or New Salem.
