Rapid City, S.D. – Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) recently donated $1,000 to Meals on Wheels Western South Dakota, enough to cover the costs of 250 meals! The credit union is pleased to support the elderly population in their communities.
As part of their Community Action Team (CAT) program, BHFCU participates annually in Meals on Wheels Western South Dakota’s Gingerbread Man Fundraiser. The fundraiser allows staff and members to donate specific amounts to help cover a correlating number of meals. For every $4 donated, a meal is covered for a local senior. “Each year, our staff and members look forward to contributing to the work of Meals on Wheel Western South Dakota,” said Brichelle Burnett, Marketing Coordinator. “Instantly knowing the impact you are making for those in need through the meal total makes it even more meaningful to donate.” Meals on Wheels Western South Dakota provides over 1,600 western South Dakota seniors with nutritious noontime meals on weekdays, with options for support in the evenings and on weekends. Meals are provided in-person in 18 communities and are delivered to homes across the region. BHFCU’s mission of improving lives is achieved by living out this principle and offering ways for employees to support their community. Run internally by staff members; the CAT program was developed in 1996 to provide staff the opportunity to fundraise for and provide resources to causes near to their hearts. BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers and Jeans Day donations, and contributions from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Established in Rapid City in 1941, Black Hills Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-forprofit financial cooperative serving more than 80,000 members. The community-chartered credit union has locations in Rapid City, Custer, Eagle Butte, Hot Springs, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Sturgis, and Wall, South Dakota.
