Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) believes it is imperative to support the passions of its staff. That’s why they promote the staff-led Community Action Team (CAT) program and are proud to share that staff raised $4,852 in November. During that month, the CAT program supported organizations focused on serving veterans. The effort raised money for Operation Black Hills Cabin, the Hot Springs, Sioux Falls, and Fort Meade VAs, and supplies for deployed troops. CAT co-chairs organized several ways for staff and the community to get involved. During the first half of the month, BHFCU’s Custer location organized a community raffle for seven prize baskets. Over 50 individuals purchased hundreds of tickets to raise money for those who served. “What I love most about the CAT program is the opportunity for staff and the community to come together for a good cause,” said Diane Olson, Custer Manager. “Operation Black Hills Cabin is right in our backyard, and we love to support their work every year.” Throughout the month, BHFCU’s Sturgis crew organized a chili feed where community members could mingle and raise money for a good cause. They also put on a supply drive for essentials needed by area VAs. Additionally, with some of the funds raised, CAT co-chairs purchased 1,032 snacks and personal items to send to deployed Ellsworth Air Force Base troops. BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and donations from members and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
