Staff and members of this credit union show their generosity in bringing a bit of “normal” to the lives of families in crisis.
Aspire Credit Union has donated $2,500 to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, funds which will be matched by the St. Joseph’s Community Health Foundation for their Twice Blessed Campaign.

Over the past few months, Aspire Credit Union has been focused on supporting the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) leading up to the holidays. The DVCC is widely supported by donations of goods, food, and monetary funding. In addition to the funds, Aspire Credit Union also purchased $500 in nonperishables to help residents get through the holidays. As part of their collection efforts, Aspire Credit Union also collected everything from bedding, to pajamas, to socks, and featured “giving garland,” their version of a giving tree.

The giving garland was prominently located in the lobby of the credit union as it was strung across the mantel on the fireplace. Items, as they arrived were displayed along the mantel and fireplace hopefully catching the eye of members and encouraging them to grab a tag and support the credit union’s efforts.

“Several dozen gifts came in from the giving garland,” shared Mindee Kohlman, CEO of Aspire Credit Union. “The items are all unwrapped allowing the residents at the DVCC the opportunity to select items that fit with their family’s needs.”

Jill McDonald, Executive Director of the DVCC shared, “It has been a pleasure to work with Aspire’s staff these past few months; seeing their commitment to the community is beautiful! Thank you to the members and employees of Aspire Credit Union for your generosity this holiday season. Your gift brings a little bit of 'normal' to a very abnormal time in the lives of the families we serve at DVCC.”.

All donations for the DVCC were presented during the week leading up to the Christmas Holiday.

Aspire Credit Union, formerly Prairie Federal Credit Union, has served the Minot area communities since 1937.
