The Bank of North Dakota (BND) wants to recognize North Dakota’s banks and credit unions for outstanding efforts during the pandemic that helped to keep our economy running. To increase awareness about the critical role financial institutions play in our communities, May 2021 has been officially proclaimed “Thank Your Bank or Credit Union Month” by North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.
As part of the celebration, a statewide online contest will be running from May 1 – 23, 2021. BND is asking residents to submit in 25 – 250 words why they appreciate their financial institution at bnd.nd.gov/mycommunity. On Monday, May 24 BND will randomly draw five submissions and award $5,000 to each selected FI to be used to support an education-related activity or need in their community. Those funds can be used for technology in a classroom, school supplies, or assisting the business club with setting up a school store. In addition, each of the writers of the selected submissions will receive a $529 College SAVE scholarship into a new or existing College SAVE account! During this time, BND will be promoting through various social media outlets. They have also prepared turnkey media assets that you can download here. You are encouraged to: Post on your own social media sites; Place copies of the posters in storefronts; Work with your local school system to send emails to families letting them know about the opportunity to raise funds for education; and Help spread the word! We know how much credit unions have done throughout the past year to help members navigate through the pandemic. It’s time to “toot our horns” and be recognized for those accomplishments! If you have any questions about this awareness initiative, be sure to contact Shawn Brummer, Communications & Media Specialist. Comments are closed.
