Your Members Need a Voice on Capitol Hill – Join us at Hike the Hill

9/1/2026

Your members deserve a voice in Washington. Join DakCU for Hike the Hill and advocate directly with lawmakers on issues that impact your credit union and the people you serve.
What happens in Washington, D.C., can have a direct impact on the credit unions we lead and the members we serve.

That’s why DakCU’s Legislative and Regulatory Hike the Hill September 13-16 is more than a trip to Washington, D.C. It’s an opportunity to advocate directly for the people who count on credit unions every day.

With important issues facing our industry and new sign-ons to the Credit Card Competition Act on the table, this fall’s Hike the Hill is an especially important opportunity to make sure lawmakers understand how federal policy decisions can affect credit unions and their members.

Every conversation we have with lawmakers is an opportunity to share the real-world impact of legislation and regulation on the members in our communities.

When we show up together, we can:
  • Protect the products and services our members rely on.
  • Help ensure credit unions have the ability to continue providing affordable financial services.
  • Share real member stories and the impact credit unions have in our communities.
  • Build relationships with the policymakers who make decisions affecting our industry.
  • Make sure the credit union perspective is heard before decisions are made — not after.

A letter or email can make a difference. A face-to-face conversation makes it personal.

This year’s Hike the Hill provides a unique opportunity to meet directly with our full North and South Dakota federal delegation, including:
  • Senator Mike Rounds
  • Senator John Thune
  • Senator John Hoeven
  • Senator Kevin Cramer
  • Representative Dusty Johnson
  • Representative Julie Fedorchak

These conversations give credit union leaders the chance to bring the issues from Capitol Hill back home and, more importantly, bring our members’ perspectives to Capitol Hill.

You don’t have to be a seasoned advocate to participate. DakCU helps prepare attendees for these conversations, making Hike the Hill an accessible and valuable experience for first-time participants and returning advocates alike.

And there’s value beyond the meetings themselves. Hike the Hill is an opportunity to connect with fellow credit union leaders from across the Dakotas, strengthen your understanding of the issues facing our industry, and return home better equipped to advocate for your members.

If you’ve been considering Hike the Hill, whether for the first time or as a returning attendee, this is the year to make your voice count.

Because when decisions are being made that could affect how we serve our members, they deserve to have their credit union in the room.

Join us in Washington, D.C., September 13-16, and help make sure your voice is heard.

Please RSVP to Kenley or online as soon as possible to secure your spot.
