Looking Ahead with Purpose, Grounded in Progress As we begin planning for the year ahead, it is important to pause briefly but intentionally to reflect on where we have been and what we’ve accomplished together. The past few years have not been without challenges for Dakota Credit Unions and your Association. In spite of that and true to our credit union mission, you have brought success to your membership. We hope we have done the same for you our member credit unions. And, true to our cooperative mission, you have continued to serve your members with purpose and deliver meaningful impact in your communities. We hope our work has provided the same support and value to you. We have navigated periods of regulatory uncertainty, evolving expectations, and a rapidly changing operating financial services landscape financial services landscape. There were moments that required difficult decisions, steady leadership, and a willingness to adapt. Those moments tested our resilience and, at times, stretched our capacity, but they also revealed the strength and commitment that define the Dakota credit union movement. Those experiences now shape our work at the Dakota Credit Union Association. Our focus moving forward is intentional and member-driven. We are aligning advocacy, education, and engagement efforts to support you as leaders and strengthen the collective voice of Dakota credit unions. The year ahead presents opportunity, and we approach it with clarity, experience, and confidence in our shared mission. Your engagement matters. I encourage you and your teams to stay connected, participate in association events, engage in advocacy efforts, and lend your voice to shaping the priorities of our league. Together, we can ensure Dakota credit unions remain strong, relevant forward looking, and well-positioned for the future. As part of this reflection and forward planning I’d encourage you to take a quick look moment to read a recent article here from America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Scott Simpson as he highlights his conversation with credit union leaders around the country and how they informed the strategy for the year ahead. It’s a thoughtful, forward-looking perspective that aligns closely with the work we’re doing here in the Dakotas and provides valuable context as we prepare for 2026. I recommend starting with the section titled “Listening to Industry Leaders.” George McDonald
