The 9th Annual Roundtable (formerly known as the MonDak Roundtable) begins today in Las Vegas as we kick off the start of our educational calendar and events for 2026. What started as a small gathering of around roughly 50 CEO’s and board members from the Dakotas and Montana nearly ten years ago, has now grown into a unique event of leaders from North and South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and now this year Nebraska, with over 130 people in attendance! This collaborative educational event is designed to bring together credit union CEOs and their volunteer boards for a focused, learning experience grounded in today’s most pressing leadership challenges. The event blends peer-to-peer dialogue with insights from industry experts, offering timely perspectives on the economy and the evolving political and regulatory landscape impacting credit unions. We have a terrific lineup of thought leaders to generate discussions and dialogue over the next two days. Attendees will be hearing from President and CEO of America’s Credit Unions Scott Simpson to kick off the day Wednesday and get a chance to explore emerging products and services, practical applications of artificial intelligence, innovative learning tools, and critical strategies to strengthen cybersecurity and operational resilience. If you haven’t had a chance to attend this event in the past, I suggest you put it on your calendar now for February 2027. Dakota Credit Union Association's (DakCU) First CEO Town Hall Tuesday for 2026 has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 at 3pm CT. We’ll update on what your Association has been working on, have some open discussion with questions, and look forward to what is ahead for Q2 and Q3 in 2026. Look for invitations coming soon to your inbox. Your DakCU Board Chair Lacey Fetsch has appointed a nominating committee with our Annual Meeting & Summit less than 100 days away. Board Chair Fetch appointed the following individuals to serve on this year’s nominating committee: Jana Thune, Fargo Federal VA Credit Unions; Jeff Jorgensen, Bluestone Federal Credit Union in Sioux Falls and Shannon Webster, Town and Country Credit Union, Minot. Thune will serve as committee chair. Two positions are up for election this year: North Dakota Division A and South Dakota Division B, each position is for a three-year term. On the National Front The House Rules Committee on Monday advanced the Senate-passed package to fund the federal government, clearing the way for a potential House floor vote as soon as today that would send legislation to the President and end the partial government shutdown. House leaders expect to have sufficient votes to pass the measure following a Monday night meeting between the White House and key Republican members. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced the appointment of Kyle Hauptman to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) late Friday. Hauptman is currently National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board chair; he has indicated he will serve in that capacity until his successor is confirmed. Your Association along with America's Credit Unions will remain closely engaged with the NCUA and Administration and keep our members informed of nominees for the NCUA Board and what plans look like moving forward. Have a great rest of your week everyone. George McDonald
