Last June, the Dakota Credit Union Foundation awarded several grants for our member credit unions to implement the Zogo financial education app. We are excited to share how one of the grant recipients has been realizing great staff and member engagement with the new platform! United Savings Credit Union (Fargo, ND) had already been looking for an alternative to replace their previous MX Money application, which had become too expensive in consideration of how many members were utilizing the option. However, receiving a grant from the Foundation expedited their decision. “We were pretty far along in the decision-making process when we found out grants would be made available for this specific financial literacy tool,” stated Jim Schaefbauer, United Savings President/CEO. “Getting the grant from the Dakota Credit Union Foundation allowed us to start right away rather than waiting until 2023. Our staff thought Zogo provided a wider range of financial literacy type of information, and we also felt the design and presentation was better suited for the younger demographics we are all seeking to attract,” he added. To create employee “buy in” and to become familiar with the Zogo platform, United Savings CU first did a trial run with employees that started in August. Schaefbauer explains, “I thought the soft rollout with our staff was a huge success! After a very easy setup with Zogo’s customer service assistance, I provided the necessary access code to all employees and mentioned there would be a prize for the person who had the highest score through September 22nd. Over half of the staff participated, and I found out the competitive nature is very strong in some people. We had two staff members that actually completed all the modules available, which was over 700 at the time! I gave them each the same prize, as neither of them could do any more at the time. However, Zogo continues to add modules so there is no end to the learning process.” On September 23rd, United Savings went live with the Zogo app for all their members, utilizing Facebook as well as their website and mobile applications to promote the new service. In addition, they promoted Zogo in all of the branch lobbies and when opening new accounts. The credit union even created a custom module, which provides a bit of history about United Savings Credit Union. So far, 70 members have already completed the custom module! Even more impressive, overall, 97 percent of the users have already responded that Zogo has improved their financial literacy! With just over one month being live, the credit union is already engaging over 100 users. “We definitely feel like we are just getting started, and we are truly looking forward to utilizing Zogo to help promote our goal of “Financial Well-Being for All,” Schaefbauer concluded. Shown below are United Savings analytics and metrics as an example of what is available to Zogo clients. For more information about the award-winning Zogo financial education mobile app, click here.
