Greetings and Happy National Volunteer Week! April is National Volunteer month, and this week, the third week of April, is officially National Volunteer Week. Let’s take time to thank all the thousands of volunteers across the country who keep many organizations running, communities safe and provide the services that otherwise would not exist without volunteers. It’s the perfect time to celebrate our credit union volunteers, recognize their impact, and encourage more volunteerism in our communities. Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers! Summit is Just Around the Corner! The countdown begins as we are now just two weeks away from the Dakota Credit Union Association’s 15th Annual Summit May 3 – 4 in Fargo. We are excited to share that our registered attendees are near pre-Covid numbers. It’s been a long time since many had the opportunity to connect and share, much less be in the same room. We are looking forward to seeing you soon! Last week we announced an addition to our Summit lineup with Eric Chester as the closing keynote speaker. As a renowned workforce researcher and thought leader, he will be presenting “On Fire at Work: Driving service through the frontline!” We are thrilled to have him at our event, and we know you will be equally impressed. Be sure to check out Eric’s introductory video for a little preview. NCUA announces PCA Relief. Late last week, the NCUA announced it has approved an interim final rule granting credit unions the Prompt Correct Action flexibility that CUNA and the Leagues have called for. The interim rule will be published today in the Federal Register and will be effective immediately. It makes two changes, in effect through March 31, 2022.
OYE Campaign is Alive and Well! I often hear the same comment about the “Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union” awareness campaign from many of our sponsors: “Why don’t I see the paid ads?” While some may feel because you don’t see it on social media, the campaign is failing or isn’t visible to anyone – that simply is not true! The campaign is functioning precisely as designed – specifically targeting Millennials who are in the market for financial services. In fact, between July 2020 and March 2021, more than 4.56 MILLION consumers visited YourMoneyFurther.com – mostly directed from the digital ads. Plus, the average age of those engaging with the digital campaign is 32 years, and 91% of those who see the ads ads click through to learn more! More information is available in today’s related Memo story which you can see here. Auction Items Needed! Silent Auction expanded to all DakCU members during the Summit. We are still accepting donations of auction items for our Summit fundraiser. The money raised provides scholarships for individuals to attend GAC/Hike the Hill events, where we advocate on behalf of all credit union in the Dakotas. To maintain our current level of assistance scholarships, we are asking that these items have a minimum retail value of $75 to $100 (or more). Here are some suggestions for popular auction items:
Congratulations to Steven Pierce from Black Hills FCU I would like to send a “shout out” to Steven Pierce, Digital Services Manager at Black Hills Federal Credit Union. Steve just completed his CUDE (Credit Union Development Education) designation through the National Credit Union Foundation. DE Training is a unique experiential training program that provides lessons in credit union structure, purpose and the “why” that differentiates credit unions from other financial institutions. This is a major accomplishment for which congratulations are in order! The Foundation will announce dates for fall DE training soon. Learn more about the DE program here: www.ncuf.coop. Have a great week! President/CEO
