Each year at the Dakota Credit Union Association’s Annual Summit, we organize a “Give Back” project to benefit an organization within the community where our event is being held. For the third consecutive year, we asked attendees to bring gift cards in $25 increments that we present to the local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital. The cards are then distributed by the hospital foundation to families being treated there, whenever they sense a need. Following the past two years’ success in supporting our Rapid City and Fargo CMN Hospitals, we were hopeful that our “ask” would once again be well received. Let’s just say – our Dakota credit unions FAR EXCEEDED our expectations in support of Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls. By Thursday evening, we had collected 143 gift cards – with a total cash value of $3,575! Ashton Siebrecht and Bethany Olson from Sanford Health Foundation appeared at the DakCU awards banquet to accept the donation. This is an AMAZING show of charitable goodwill by our members, and we THANK YOU! In addition, the first place Summit Golf Scramble winners donated their cash prize to the project. Your support will go a long way in helping families experiencing a medical hardship. Credit unions are the 5th largest corporate sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and our Dakota credit unions continue to show their great support! Since 1996, credit unions under the CU4Kids brand have raised more than $200 million for CMN Hospitals. In 2023, CU4Kids received the Founder’s Award, a highly prestigious award presented to distinguished individuals or organizations who have made amazing contributions to CMN Hospitals.
