Sentinel Cares Team: Spreading Cheer Through the Season of Giving

​Sentinel Federal Credit Union staff members contribute through payroll to give back to the community.

At Sentinel Federal Credit Union (Sentinel FCU), the Sentinel Cares Team embodies the spirit of giving and community support. This staff-led initiative focuses on fostering camaraderie among employees while uplifting the communities they serve. Over the years, the team has donated thousands of dollars to causes ranging from aiding families in need to supporting local food banks.

The concept is simple but impactful: The funds come entirely from the staff, creating a shared purpose among participants. Staff members simply opt in to contribute through payroll deduction and, in return, enjoy a “Casual for a Cause” every Monday, donning jeans and a team shirt. These personal contributions directly fund timely and meaningful community assistance.

"As a group, I think we can accomplish more than what I can do independently,” shared one team member. “It gives me a sense of accomplishment and a positive way to share experiences with fellow staff." Occasionally, Sentinel FCU amplifies these efforts by matching donations during special campaigns.

While the Sentinel Cares Team gives year-round, the holiday season brings a special focus on spreading cheer. During their "Season of Giving," they meet holiday-specific needs, recently supporting:

• Meals on Wheels
• Operation Raider Cheer (benefiting over 800 airmen at Ellsworth AFB)
• Hill City Food Pantry
• Battle Mountain Humane Society
• Southern Plains Behavioral Health Services Christmas Wish Program

Through their efforts, the Sentinel Cares Team shows the profound impact of small, consistent actions, reminding us of the power of community and the joy of giving.
