The Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Political & Grassroots Affairs to serve as our primary advocate and lobbyist for South Dakota. This leadership position is vital to advancing the legislative and regulatory priorities of Dakota credit unions and shaping a political environment where our members can thrive.
As the chief lobbyist and registered state representative, the Director of Political & Grassroots Affairs will build and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders to advocate for credit union priorities. This role requires a strategic, proactive leader who can influence public policy, mobilize grassroots support, and increase political engagement statewide. This is a remote position based in South Dakota, with regular in-state travel—including travel to Pierre during the legislative session—and occasional out-of-state travel required. The Director will work closely with the DakCU President/CEO and Governmental Affairs Committees to develop and implement annual advocacy strategies. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, business, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in lobbying, legislative affairs, or government relations is required, preferably within the financial services industry or a membership-based trade association.
