![]() Retired CEO of Northern Hills FCU, Floyd Rummel III, Sturgis, SD was inducted into the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) Hall of Fame during the Summit Awards Banquet that was held on Wednesday, May 14 at the Delta Hotel in Fargo, ND. The Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award is a lifetime achievement recognition, and the most prestigious of all DakCU’s awards. As part of the ceremony, a video recap of his unique credit union history was played, which you can view here. Floyd Rummel III began his credit union journey in 1987 when he accepted the role of President at Lead Miners Federal Credit Union. At the time, he was new to the credit union world but quickly embraced the “people helping people” philosophy that aligned with his deeply rooted values of hard work and integrity. Under his leadership, the credit union grew significantly, later becoming Dakota Territory FCU and eventually merging with Northern Hills FCU, where he served as CEO. Over the years, he helped grow the credit union’s assets, expand its services, and strengthen its presence in the community. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Rummel dedicated countless hours to advancing the credit union movement. He served on the Old West Chapter Board, the South Dakota Credit Union League Board (nine years as chair), and was part of the founding Dakota Credit Union Association Board. Nationally, he served on the board of Alloya Corporate FCU, NeighborWorks America, and the CFPB’s Credit Union Advisory Council. His contributions earned him numerous accolades, including the association’s Professional of the Year award and induction into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders. He also played a key role in his local community, founding the Dakota Land Trust, coaching youth sports, and supporting economic development efforts. A steadfast advocate for service and innovation, Rummel’s legacy will continue to inspire the credit union community for years to come. Congratulations again Floyd! Comments are closed.
