Join DakCU for Hike the Hill, the ND GAC PAC Golf Scramble, and the Compliance Conclave this fall!
By John Alexander, DakCU Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs

Hike the Hill Update!
The DakCU Legislative and Regulatory Hike the Hill event is next week, September 8-11, with credit union professionals representing 17 different credit unions from across North and South Dakota traveling to Washington, D.C.

Credit unions represented include: First Community CU, Capital CU, University FCU, Western Cooperative CU, Town & Country CU, Fargo VA FCU, North Star Community CU, Oahe FCU, East River FCU, Service First FCU, Levo, Northern Hills FCU, Black Hills FCU, Dakotaland FCU, Voyage FCU, Highmark FCU and Explorers FCU.

This is our largest delegation to date for me. We expect roughly 22–25 attendees, depending on final arrivals.
We have a lunch meeting confirmed with the NCUA Chairman. Please be prepared for a focused discussion on examinations, risk management, and operational impacts on small and mid-size credit unions.

All six members of the North Dakota and South Dakota congressional delegations are on the calendar for meetings. Save this link here, for current information.

Last Chance Golf Scramble to benefit ND GAC PAC – September 18

  • Cost: $150 per golfer | $280 per team | $1,000 with team + hole sponsorship

This 9-hole course in the James River Valley is one of the most scenic in the state. Competitions include longest putt, longest drive, and closest to the pin, plus a 50/50 raffle, mulligans, and extend-a-putt. Be sure to bring cash for on-course games and beverages.

Register today and join us for a day of camaraderie, competition, and commitment to advocacy.

Compliance Conclave – October 20–21 | Bismarck, ND
We’re also excited to launch the all-new DakCU Compliance Conclave, designed exclusively for credit union compliance professionals.
  • When: October 20–21
  • Where: Bismarck, ND

From cybersecurity and incident response to emerging fraud trends, third-party risk, Regulation E, and AML program enhancements, attendees will engage in workshops, policy clinics, and peer-to-peer roundtables. The interactive format ensures participants will leave with actionable insights and draft policy tools they can put to work immediately.

Highlights include:
  • Hands-on policy workshops covering cybersecurity and AML.
  • Deep dives into payments innovations, credit risk, and lending trends.
  • Scenario-based clinics addressing CTR, SAR, and Regulation E challenges.
  • Networking opportunities with fellow compliance professionals from across the Dakotas.

Lunch is provided on October 20, breakfast on October 21. This event promises to deliver actionable takeaways to strengthen your policies, procedures, and consumer protections. Register here. For more information see Tuesday's Memo story on the Conclave.
