by John Alexander, Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs On Monday, North Dakota’s gubernatorial candidates—Republican Kelly Armstrong, Democrat Merrill Piepkorn, and Independent Michael Coachman—clashed over key issues during a debate hosted by BEK TV. In front of a live audience of just over 100, they debated a proposed ballot measure to alter the process for constitutional amendments, laying bare their differing views on state leadership. Energy policy, government transparency, ethical concerns, and the role of the Department of Commerce were also hotly debated, showcasing their contrasting visions for North Dakota’s future. We've had an amazing turnout for our Pints and Politics events across North Dakota, with nearly 200 members joining us so far. While that might not seem huge at first glance, it's worth noting that these gatherings have been spread out over several weeks. To put it in perspective, the recent gubernatorial debate with all three major candidates only drew just over 100 attendees—so we’ve made a strong showing in comparison! Now, as we gear up for our final Pints and Politics event in Jamestown at 6 p.m., I'm hoping to see a crowd of 50 or more. Maybe it’s just my optimism, but the thought of all those passionate voices coming together really gets my heart racing! A big thank you to everyone who’s come out, and we can’t wait to meet even more of you next Tuesday! Here are some photos from our past events! DakCU staff has been working hard to prepare and ship your Holiday Sweepstakes packages. Inside, you’ll find everything you need: the rules entry sheet, sweepstakes contribution forms, and a ballot box. These packages have been sent to your credit union’s main branch, and you’ll need to redistribute them to your sister branches. Please make sure to allocate the contribution forms accordingly. We've based the quantities on your sales from previous years, so if you run out, don’t hesitate to contact me or Paige. For credit unions receiving the package, please assign a branch manager or someone from each location as the main point of contact, as we’ll be in touch regularly throughout the month. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. The Holiday Sweepstakes officially kicks off on October 28th and runs through November 27th, with the prize drawing on December 12th at 3 p.m. Winners will be announced online.
