![]() The CU Times has announced the 2024 Luminaries Awards finalists for credit unions and credit union professionals who have excelled in the "people helping people" philosophy and/or excelled in ways to grow their credit unions, connect with their communities and bring new technological achievements for members. CU Times stated they received a record number of submissions for the 2024 Luminaries Awards, which included several new categories. The announcement named finalists in 16 categories and included one Dakota credit union professional: April Tompkins, CEO of Explorers CU, Yankton, South Dakota. April was one of nine executives in the Credit Union Executive Leadership CEO category for $1 billion and under in assets. Others in her group were from a variety of U.S. states, including Washington, Arkansas, Alabama, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota. “I am immensely thankful for this nomination,” stated Tompkins. “I truly feel privileged to work with my dedicated and talented team at Explorers Credit Union, and I know it is our total effort that makes our credit union successful with our members and keeps us moving forward,” she added. The Luminaries Awards finalists as well as the winner in each category are selected by a committee. Winners will be announced live at the 2024 CU Times Luminaries Awards gala on November 7 at Disney's Yacht Club Resort in Orlando, Florida. Learn more about the 2024 Luminaries Awards.
