Your Association Advocacy team is hard at work in Washington, D.C. this week, ensuring credit union priorities remain front and center on Capitol Hill. At the same time, our focus on South Dakota issues has not wavered. This week, our team provided remote testimony on Senate Bill (SB) 98 and House Bill 1238 in Pierre, continuing our efforts to protect consumers and maintain a safe, fair operating environment for credit unions across the state. These bills carry real implications for member safety, operational clarity, and the long-term strength of the credit union system—making your engagement especially important. As part of this effort, we have issued a Call to Action for SB 98, legislation designed to combat the rapid rise in cryptocurrency-kiosk scams that are increasingly targeting vulnerable South Dakotans. Credit unions are often on the front line of detecting financial exploitation, and this bill provides another tool to help safeguard the people we serve. Your voice matters. When policymakers hear directly from credit union professionals, it reinforces the urgency of enacting meaningful consumer protections. Take Action: Urge Support for SB 98 Help us move this important measure forward and ensure safer financial outcomes for South Dakotans.
