Why Our Advocacy Matters These last few weeks have been busy in the credit union world. From traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet with our congressional delegation to spending time in Bismarck last week talking with Scott Simpson about advocacy and the issues facing credit unions, advocacy has certainly been top of mind. One of my favorite parts of this work is getting out and seeing our credit unions and the difference they make in their communities. It was great to be in Bismarck last week, hear from Scott, and have conversations about the issues impacting our industry. While we were together, news broke that the IFPA court decision had been expanded to include federal credit unions. That is a significant win and provides important protection from harmful legislation. It is also especially timely as we head toward our own legislative session, giving us another opportunity to have meaningful conversations with lawmakers about how legislation can impact credit unions and, ultimately, the members and communities they serve. Moments like these are a good reminder of why our advocacy matters. When we sit down with legislators, it is important that they understand the credit union difference and recognize that legislation affecting credit unions does not just affect an institution. It affects the members, families, small businesses, and communities that rely on them every day. Early Voting Is Open in South Dakota! Early voting is officially underway in South Dakota!
