South Dakota General Election Preview: November 5, 2024
The countdown to the November 5, 2024, general election is on! With just two months to go, I wanted to share a preview of the candidates you can expect to see on the ballot in South Dakota. Additionally, I wanted to provide a friendly reminder to make sure you are registered to vote ahead of this year’s election!

Voter Registration Deadline
The deadline to register to vote either in person or by mail in South Dakota is October 21, 2024! You can check to see if you are currently registered here. If not, no worries! You still have time to print the Voter Registration Form, fill-out the form, sign it and then submit it to your County Auditor.

Voting and Election Day Details
On November 5th, the polls will be open from 7am to 7pm in South Dakota. Make sure to bring a valid form of identification when you vote. To find your polling place, visit the Voter Information Portal or check your voter acknowledgement notice from the county election official.

Going to be out of town on November 5th? Absentee voting begins on September 20, 2024, in South Dakota. Make sure you are registered to vote and that your ballot is sent in at least 15 days prior to the election. More info on options to submit your absentee vote here.
