DTMCU Update: Congressional Recess, Critical Window for Action Congress is on recess this week but that doesn’t mean our work pauses. Lawmakers will begin drafting the new tax bill the moment they return to Washington. We must act now to prevent any consideration of altering credit unions’ tax-exempt status in the bill. This is our critical window to launch a full grassroots push. New Social Media Toolkit – Don’t Tax My Credit Union America’s Credit Unions rolled out a brand-new social media toolkit on the DTMCU website to help credit unions and members easily share their stories. The toolkit includes step-by-step video instructions, suggested prompts, and best practices for recording. It’s designed to highlight the real, human impact of credit unions—straight from members’ mouths. You can find it here. Op-ed and LTE Campaign Alongside our digital push, we’re ramping up traditional media outreach. We’re encouraging submissions of op-eds and letters to the editor (LTEs) supporting DTMCU. Templates and guidance are available via the Member Activation Program section of the DTMCU site. A recent strong example: an op-ed in the Washington Examiner from Leigh Brady (State Employees’ CU, NC) and Deborah Fears (Chicago Post Office ECU, IL) countering misinformation and defending the mission and structure of credit unions. Bank Sales to Credit Unions – Updated Research Now Available New resources are now posted to address common banker claims and misinformation surrounding credit union purchases of banks. These updated facts will be helpful as this issue increasingly appears in legislative meetings. Stack the PAC is back—and this year, we’re turning it all the way up. Held Monday evening at Summit 2025, this exclusive donor recognition event honors the heroes of advocacy: YOU. Whether you've chipped in $24 or championed us with a President-level donation, this is your night to be celebrated. The room will buzz with conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of gratitude that lingers long after the last toast. So, check your inbox, not your mailbox. RSVP through Green Envelope. Join us at Stack the PAC on May 12. Because progress waits for no one—and neither should you. Stay Connected For more information or to share your perspectives, feel free to contact me.
