Leadership Link: Keller Connection

DakCU leadership joined advocates from across the country at the AACUL Summer Meeting, reinforcing the power of collaboration, advocacy, and a shared commitment to strengthening our movement.
Last week, George and I had the privilege of attending the American Association of Credit Union Leagues' (AACUL) Summer Meeting, where more than 100 credit union advocates from across the country gathered with one shared purpose: strengthening and advancing the credit union movement.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the meeting was witnessing the true cooperative spirit that exists among the state leagues. Just as credit unions collaborate to serve their members, league leaders intentionally work together to share ideas, solve challenges, and advocate for the future of our movement. While each state faces unique opportunities and issues, we are united by a common mission - to serve credit unions so they can continue serving their members.

That spirit of collaboration reinforces what we believe at the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU). We are committed to listening, learning, and working alongside our credit unions to ensure you have the advocacy, resources, and support needed to succeed. When one credit union succeeds, our entire movement grows stronger.

This past week also marked the 92nd anniversary of the Federal Credit Union Act, a milestone that reminds us how far our movement has come. For more than nine decades, credit unions have helped millions of Americans achieve financial well-being, fulfill their dreams of homeownership, build businesses, and create brighter futures for their families. That legacy is worth celebrating.

At the same time, we know our work is far from finished. Yesterday's U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding the President's authority to remove members of independent federal agencies has implications for the leadership and governance of the National Credit Union Administration. The ruling likely ends the legal challenge brought by former NCUA Board members and leaves two seats on the Board vacant until new nominees are confirmed.

While this development presents challenges, it does not change our commitment to protecting and advancing the credit union movement. As President and CEO of America's Credit Unions Scott Simpson stated following the decision, the priority remains restoring a full three-member NCUA Board to ensure stable and effective oversight for our industry.

At DakCU, we share that commitment. We will continue working with America's Credit Unions, our state and federal policymakers, and all of you to ensure that the credit union voice remains strong. Thank you for everything you do every day to make the American Dream possible for your members. Together, we will continue advocating for policies that recognize and protect the unique value credit unions bring to our communities.
