Setting the right goals for your credit union is crucial for staying competitive and achieving sustainable growth. But here’s the truth: the time to set those goals is now. If you wait until December or January to start planning for 2025, you’re already behind. Getting ahead now gives your team the runway they need to hit the ground running in the new year. Let’s talk about how to set stretch goals that challenge your team and set the foundation for success; let’s focus on the stretch goals—ambitious targets that challenge your team without overwhelming them. Start by evaluating where your credit union stands today. Consider your current market conditions, the capacity of your team, and the performance you've had over the last few years. Once you have that baseline, it's time to think bigger. Where do you want to be by the end of 2025? What growth targets will push your team’s abilities, while keeping them motivated and focused? These goals should stretch your team just beyond their comfort zone, encouraging development while still being achievable. Break your stretch goals into smaller, manageable milestones. This ensures progress is measurable and keeps your team engaged over the long term. It also helps to create a timeline and assign accountability, so everyone knows their role in hitting these targets. Tracking performance against these goals is essential. In fact, understanding and measuring key metrics, like KPIs, is a critical step in achieving success.
