The Dakota Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors held a regularly scheduled virtual meeting on Wednesday, September 18. Two items of new business were on the agenda: a grant application for Junior Achievement of South Dakota; and the Vacation Sweepstakes for 2025. The board approved a $2,000 grant for Junior Achievement, which will be used to purchase materials and digital resources directly used by the students at schools engaged in financial literacy. For the 2024-2025 school year, 57 credit union employees have already volunteered to teach the program in local classrooms! Junior Achievement’s mission and values aligns directly with the foundation’s mission of “financial well-being for all!” Board members also weighed in on the Vacation Sweepstakes, which has been a primary fundraiser for the foundation for the past two years. After receiving feedback from some of our members, the board has opted to move from one vacation prize winner to a multiple winner cash sweepstakes for 2025. A committee has been formed to explore the cash breakdown options and to name the new sweepstakes – so stay tuned! As a reminder, the foundation continues to accept grant/scholarship applications for projects and/or education and certifications that support financial well-being.
